The quick answer

OptionTypical cost (India)What you get
DIY AI tools
(InVideo, Runway, etc.)
₹1,000–₹8,000 / month
(subscriptions)
You do the work. Fast, cheap, and generic — fine for throwaway social clips, risky for anything that represents the brand.
Freelancer AI video ₹15,000–₹80,000 / video Quality varies wildly. Usually no brand system, no consistency QC, no revisions process.
AI ad film studio
(directed production)
₹80,000–₹8,00,000 / film Brand system locked before generation, script + storyboard, shot-by-shot consistency QC, grade and edit. Studio process, AI engine.
Traditional ad film shoot ₹3,00,000–₹50,00,000+
(₹1 Cr+ with celebrity talent)
Crew, location, equipment, casting, shoot days, post. The benchmark AI production is disrupting.

Ranges are directional market figures for India in 2026, based on published agency rates and our own quoting experience. Every project prices on scope — treat these as orientation, not quotes.

Why AI production costs a fraction of a shoot

A traditional ad film's budget is mostly logistics: crew day-rates, location rental, equipment, casting, travel, set builds, and the reshoots when something goes wrong. The idea and the craft are a minority of the invoice.

AI production deletes the logistics line items entirely. No crew, no location, no shoot days. What remains — and what you're actually paying a studio for — is direction:

That's why the honest cost of a good AI ad film in India isn't ₹5,000 — and also why it isn't ₹15 lakh.

The five things that actually drive the price

  1. Direction depth. A film built on a locked brand system with storyboards costs more than "generate me something" — and it's the entire difference in output quality.
  2. Duration and cutdowns. A 30–60s hero film plus 3 feed-format cutdowns is a different scope than one 15s clip.
  3. Character / mascot consistency. Keeping a character identical across every shot is the hardest technical problem in AI film — expect it to be priced.
  4. Revisions and approval gates. Structured approval points (script → board → generation) cost more than one-shot delivery, and save you from expensive surprises.
  5. One-off vs retainer. A monthly content engine amortises the brand-lock work across every piece, so per-asset cost drops sharply after the first film.

What we charge (published rates)

Most agencies make you sit through a discovery call to hear a number. Here are ours, converted at approximately ₹85 to the US dollar:

OfferRateScope
Hero Commercial $999 (~₹85,000)
founding rate, first films only — rises with proof
A premium directed brand film under 60s: brand lock, script, storyboard, controlled generation, grade, edit.
Content Engine (retainer) $2,000/mo (~₹1.7L)
founding → $3,500/mo standard
4 directed reels + 8 statics per month, delivered weekly. 3-month minimum.
Ad Creative Engine $1,500–$2,800/mo
(~₹1.3L–₹2.4L)
5–10 finished ad creatives per month (static + motion) with placement variations, for performance teams.

Founding rates are explicitly temporary — offered to early clients in exchange for testimonial and case-study rights. AI efficiency is our margin, not a permanent discount.

Cross-check: what other Indian studios publish

Don't take our word for the market ranges — here's what other Indian production companies publish on their own sites, so you can verify the picture yourself:

SourcePublished figures
Visual Best (AI video agency, Delhi) — their 2026 cost guide Professional AI-led agency work: ₹25,000–₹1,20,000 per finished minute. Small AI agency projects ₹40,000–₹2,00,000; specialist campaign work ₹1.5–5L+; freelancers ₹15,000–₹75,000 per video.
Cybertize Media (ad film house) — their 2026 ad film cost guide Traditional production overall: ₹75,000 to ₹2 crore+. Entry digital films ₹50K–₹3L; mid-range digital ₹3–20L; TVC minimum ₹15–20L; celebrity campaigns ₹75L–₹2Cr+.

The published numbers agree with the ranges at the top of this page: directed AI production sits well below a traditional shoot, and well above the DIY-tool tier — because you're paying for direction, not logistics.

When AI production is the right call — and when it isn't

Choose AI production when:

A traditional shoot is still right when:

Any studio that tells you AI replaces every shoot is selling you. It replaces most of them — and it beats the ₹50,000 "AI slop" tier every single time if the production is directed.

How to compare quotes (a 60-second checklist)

  1. Ask what gets locked before generation. If the answer isn't "brand system, script, storyboard," you're buying slot-machine output.
  2. Ask how character/product consistency is QC'd. Shot-by-shot, or "the model usually gets it right"?
  3. Ask what's included in revisions. Approval gates at script and board stage are worth more than "unlimited revisions" after the fact.
  4. Ask for cutdowns. A hero film without feed formats is half a deliverable.
  5. Check the work. If every ad on their reel could belong to any brand, that's what yours will look like too.
